This may be a dumb question, but is there a place to search IATI data using a free-text query?
I can do it with the OIPA API (thank you Z&Z) but for the casual user, or quick enquiry, it’s a bit heavy to have to write/edit code.
Thanks
Ben

Hey Ben
Depending on how you wanted to view results on IATI data this might be helpful - it’s in development on d-portal so not generally available yet, but feel free to have a go using this (which you can either use as a free text search, or do some filters).
Any feedback would be great - hope it’s useful! Hopefully this will be live on the d-portal site in the coming weeks

Thanks

Oh, thanks - I see the full-text search appears to work but the results box lists the publisher, not the activity? Eg I am searching for “World Humanitarian Summit” and I get the publishers whose records match the phrase?
Thanks
Ben
It shows the results in the same format as the rest of d-portal, so first there’s a box showing all the activities found (according to your search) by publisher, then next a box showing the same results but by sector (although clicking on that isn’t working currently, so will fix that!).
The next section down is ‘Currently published to IATI’ where you could click on ‘Active projects’ (of which I get 11 for searching ‘World Humanitarian Summit’) to get a list of all activities related to your search that like this http://d-portal.org/ctrack.html?search=world%20humanitarian%20summit#view=active - which you can then explore further.
Is that more what you were hoping for?
Thanks
Matt
Thanks very much (the real WHS interrupted me)…
The white dropdown listing matching publishers (on Chrome) sometimes covers up the black box saying “Explore Search Results”. That’s where I got stuck initially. See attached.
full-TEXT, sorry for typo.
Ok, thanks Ben - will fix that up!
Hi Matt -
I was trying out a search box that jumped into the d-portal from a remote page.
I found your search didn’t like World+Humanitarian+Summit and needs World%20Humanitarian%20Summit encoding of spaces. I don’t know how hard it is, but if both worked it might be handy…
Thanks
Ben
Hi Ben
Thanks - that’s very helpful…will try and fix that so it works for both
Cheers
Matt
